Quoted from MLP Wiki: In Enterplay's trading card series, Series 1 lists the sisters' pony type as both Pegasus and unicorn but not Earth, and Series 2 lists their pony type as all three and also refers to them as "immortal alicorns"; a writer and consultant for both series has stated that the inclusion of Earth was "an intentional improvement" they made on Series 2, "based on feedback and it being one of those 'could be canon' sorts of things that just plain makes sense."
You mentioned you would change it if it was changed for the official cards, it has and I am pointing out that it has. It is not my option, it is now fact that for the cards Celestia, Luna, and Cadance are all three races.
Now, I don't mind people using it as part of their own art, but I do request that people credit me as the original designer of Nyx's cutie mark. Would you mind adding some kind of credit to the image's notes? Thanks for your understanding!
Funny thing about that. I designed this Cutie Mark after the fic was finished. One of its initial versions, that is, since the fic has been later adapted to adjust elements introduced in later seasons.
Thing is, back when I decided to do this, the original fanfic simply described Nyx's Cutie Mark as a "blue kite shield". Seriously, that was it. Hence my comment on my description here: www.deviantart.com/art/Cutie-M… To quote:
"Along the updated version of "Lifting Off", I decided to show and share the vectorized Cutie Mark of Nyx. I… kinda went as far as I could into making it as visually appealing as possible. Personally, I can’t help feeling the description it was given it was rather bland – I mean, c’mon, PenStroke, why couldn’t the shield have a symbol, or something? – and yet, I milked it for all it was worth, giving it a metallic border and a crescent moon-shaped highlight."
Then a good while later, someone drops this comment on me: comments.deviantart.com/1/2586… , informing me that the fanfic now not only changed the description to fit my design, but even actually has a link to my picture in its text.
After the... hype-attack of the moment, I edited my description of this picture to add undying gratefulness to PenStroke on it, and such is how we're now. Couldn't believe my fortune. One of the simpliest works I've ever done, and for it to get such recognition...
Though since it has essentially become the offical cutiemark I do still wonder... it is at this point more then possible for someone to want to make a Nyx picture and in seeing how others draw it decide to draw it the same way, thus meaning they 'copy' your design without knowing it.
I'm going by what the official cards read. If you look at the trading cards, the alicorns only have the two circled. This is clearly an over site on their part, but I'm just keeping things look official.
Also, it was decided in the fanfiction to allow those with cutiemarks to be a CMC but as... helpers for those still looking for their special talent. This was done for the sake of Twist, who felt left out when the original three got together and Nyx offered she join. So not just the idea of 'Once a Cutie Mark Crusader, always a Cutie Mark Crusader" but a "you can join so as to help others get their cutie mark".
this i know, but I'm going by card cannon, If you look at any of the official cards they only list unicorn / pegasus. If they update this with the second card release then so will I, but until then it's not changing.
I'm not quite sure where to start. Is it real? Well, that would change depending on your philosophy. "Is that real?" Well, "I think, therefor I am." Thus, "I see it, therefor it is real." If you mean "Is it official?" Then no. This is simply a fan creation of the card if Nyx was an official licensed pony. No Lauren Faust didn't make her. In fact Lauren hardly has much say in the show now a days. Nyx is a character from a fan fic called "Past Sins", written by PenStroke.
This I know. But I'm going off of what the MLP trading cards look like. And they list Celestia and Luna as unicorn and pegasi. If it was up to me yes, but I the point of these cards is to make them as close to the product that is on the market. If they ever revise them, then I will as well.
